What is up with Hollywood these days? They take a perfectly entertaining and thought provoking piece of Chick lit and turn it into a lackluster, overpriced production piece?!?!?!? For the love of god, tell me why? I thought it was just me being a movie snob and all - but then an old friend sent me a note begging me to rant over the new film; He’s Just Not That Into You. I knew then it wasn’t just me who was disappointed in the $7.50 I paid to get a little girlfriend comfort. There was no comfort, no real understanding. A total let down for the female species especially in contrast to the book which was charming, witty and filled with girl nodding laughs. But the movie relied on stereotypes and flat story telling with cliché jokes and male actors who were hard on the eyes with exception to Bradley Cooper and Ben Afleck.
Observation #4
I am in desperate need of a film critic who will give the real skinny on whether a film is chick worthy! Makes me think I could dedicate an entire blog to chick lit and chick flick. And Hollywood should take note! Stop overlooking us at the box office. Stop serving up remedial content! There are plenty of women worthy topics to create groundbreaking films with. Use them already dam it!
